RASHARKIN AREA COMMUNITY HEALTH INITIATIVE

From early December 2002, RasharkinWomen's Group were able to employ a Part-Time Lay Health Worker through funding received by the Community Development and Health Network of Northern Ireland.

One of the main objectives of this worker is to provide local accessible and confidential health and social well-being information for all the residents of Rasharkin and surrounding rural areas.

Some of the aims of this project are to increase local People's understanding of health issues and to encourage the wider community to play a role in promoting health.

The Lay Health Worker will work alongside the local Pharmacist Patrick Kennedy to access, research and disseminate information on all aspects of local health needs

This is an information only position, advice will not be given on health matters which is the area of health professionals.

A Health Information Library has now opened at Drumbolcan House. This service is completely confidential and can provide information through books, internet and CD-Rom, if we do not have the information for you straight away, we will source it for you.

So if you require any information, either call in or give Helen Darragh a ring at the office on 2957 1385
